Fresh Avocado DIY Bath Bomb - Inspired by Lush Bath Bomb Recipe

AvoBath Inspired Lush Bath Bomb recipe - make it with or without soap coloring to make your homemade bath bombs your desired color

Lush is highly regarded as the makers of some of the best bath bomb recipes. This recipe will teach you how to make bath bombs with avocado and essential oils just like the AvoBath bath bombs at Lush!

The official Lush bath bomb recipe is a little different (and of course top secret!). We do know that they use avocado and extra virgin olive oil along with bergamot and lemongrass scent.

These homemade bath bombs use avacado along with coconut oil and essential oils that still capture the same scent profile as the Lush AvoBath recipe.

Rumor has it that the real Lush bath bomb recipe uses rosewood essential oil. Even at my favorite provider of essential oils for bath bombs, it's really expensive!

To make our DIY Lush bath bomb recipe more affordable, we use the Love essential oil blend.  It still uses bergamot and other yummy citrus oils. We also add in lemongrass oil for that fresh, avo bath scent.

I start with lower amounts of essential oils in my DIY bath bombs so that they are safe for everybody. If you love a really strong scent to your homemade bath bombs and you know you don't have sensitive skin, go ahead and add more! Sniff and adjust as you go!

If you love Lush, you might also love this video of their AvoBath bomb making process in the Lush factory. You can see that Lush's recipe is a little different than mine. Theirs uses olive oil (I use coconut oil) and their dye is very neon green.

Of course, you can use whatever color dye you want for your homemade bath bombs and personalize the intensity, too! You could even make it purple, pink, or your favorite color if you wanted! This is one of the best bath bomb recipes because it is so customizable.

That's it!
Here are some pictures of the avocado bath bomb recipe. This first batch of AvoBath inspired bath bombs was made without coloring.

As you can see they really only have a very subtle yellowish / green color to them if you don't supplement with a soap coloring.

    1. Some store bought bath bombs definitely have concerning ingredients and use fragrances containing endocrine disruptors. If they try making this one, let me know how it goes!

  2. Love these, they would make a perfect gift and really like the idea of using nourishing avocado in them! Thanks for the helpful step by step instructions :)

  3. Hi, love this idea. Going to be making them very soon and giving them out as Christmas presents. I was just wondering what the shelf life of them is with them having avocado in, do they go off fast?

    1. That’s a great question! I haven’t personally kept mine very long before use and since they don’t have preservatives in them they may not keep as long as a store bought bomb.

All the other bath bomb recipes on my site, though, I am confident can be stored for for weeks or months and might make better gift options when you won’t know how long the recipient might keep it before using it.
