How to Make an Iced Latte: A Paleo, Keto & Whole30 Coffee Recipe

This is the best Whole30 Iced Latte recipe! Learn how to make iced coffee that is paleo, keto and vegan.

You've recently gone Whole 30, paleo or keto and you are missing Starbucks! If you are trying to figure out how to make an iced latte that you can actually enjoy on your new eating plan, you have come to the right place!

I love coffee and as a former barista myself, I've got your back.

Making iced lattes is super easy. Thanks to NutPods (who is sponsoring this blog post), you can use their awesome Whole30 coffee creamer to make a Whole 30 compliant Starbucks style drink that is sugar free and only has 3 total carbs--making it perfect for people looking for awesome paleo and dairy free keto lattes as well!

When I first did Whole 30 (4 years ago now), if you wanted Whole30 coffee creamer, you had to make it yourself.

Now, NutPods makes it easy to pick up a carton of Whole 30 creamer at your local grocery store.

You can use it in hot coffee but I really love it this way in an iced latte -- especially for the summer! If you finish up Whole 30 and want to move to paleo or dairy free keto instead, this recipe is awesome to keep you happy and caffeinated!

What is a latte?

Traditionally, a latte is espresso shots with steamed milk poured over the top. Iced lattes are usually made by pouring hot espresso shots over ice and then filling the cup the rest of the way with milk. Of course, you can use any type of milk to do this.

In this Whole 30 latte recipe, I use cold brew coffee instead of espresso shots.

First because cold brew coffee is easier to make at home than espresso (not sure how to make cold brew coffee? I like this cold brew coffee recipe from Thomas Joseph on the Martha Stewart website). You don't need any special equipment to make this delicious low carb coffee.

Second because cold brew coffee is sweeter, smoother and less bitter than coffee made using steam or hot water. When you are on an eating plan that doesn't let you add sugar to counteract bitterness, it makes a big difference in taste! Even people used to adding sweetener to their lattes find that by using cold brew instead of espresso, they don't need sweetener.

No need to spend hours scrolling Pinterest for Whole30 Starbucks ideas! You can make a week worth of this delicious Whole30 coffee at home for the same amount of money you'd spend on a single Starbucks coffee.

Let's talk about these ingredients for a minute.

Cold brew coffee: Even though iced lattes are traditionally made with hot espresso shots poured over ice, this latte is made with cold brew. You can make your own cold brew coffee at home or buy it pre-brewed in stores. Cold brew coffee is smoother and less acidic than coffee made with a hot brew method. It makes the perfect base for Whole 30 and keto coffee drinks because it doesn't need sweetener to counteract the bitterness or acidity.

NutPods: NutPods is a delicious combo of coconut cream and almonds. It is free of carrageenan and completely unsweetened, making it an officially Whole30 approved coffee creamer. It is vegan, gluten free and also happens to be low carb, so it's perfect for keto coffee recipes as well. You can buy NutPods on Amazon or check out the "where to buy" section of the NutPods website to find a store near you that carries it. NutPods comes in original and several subtle flavors like French vanilla and hazelnut. I like French vanilla the most so I used it for this recipe --but you do you!
