AvoBath Inspired Lush Bath Bomb recipe - make it with or without soap coloring to make your homemade bath bombs your desired color

Lush is highly regarded as the makers of some of the best bath bomb recipes. This recipe will teach you how to make bath bombs with avocado and essential oils just like the AvoBath bath bombs at Lush!

The official Lush bath bomb recipe is a little different (and of course top secret!). We do know that they use avocado and extra virgin olive oil along with bergamot and lemongrass scent.

These homemade bath bombs use avacado along with coconut oil and essential oils that still capture the same scent profile as the Lush AvoBath recipe.

Rumor has it that the real Lush bath bomb recipe uses rosewood essential oil. Even at my favorite provider of essential oils for bath bombs, it's really expensive!

To make our DIY Lush bath bomb recipe more affordable, we use the Love essential oil blend.  It still uses bergamot and other yummy citrus oils. We also add in lemongrass oil for that fresh, avo bath scent.

I start with lower amounts of essential oils in my DIY bath bombs so that they are safe for everybody. If you love a really strong scent to your homemade bath bombs and you know you don't have sensitive skin, go ahead and add more! Sniff and adjust as you go!

Bath bomb recipe with activated charcoal

So you want to learn how to make black bath bombs? Want to make your bath water black? I've got you!

Last year, black bath bombs blew up on Instagram (check out black bath bombs on Instagram here).

For the most part, black bath bombs are made black by their use of activated charcoal rather than black dye or soap coloring.

Activated charcoal has been used in traditional health care settings as something you take internally (you swallow it!) to help poisoning or overdose for basically forever (learn more about medical use of activated charcoal here).

DIY face scrub recipe with essential oils
Making a homemade face scrub isn't hard! You can whip up this easy DIY face scrub recipe and have a soothing spa experience at home all for pennies on the dollar compared to expensive pre-made face scrubs (not to mention sketchy ingredients like parabens and phthalates and hormone disrupting chemicals, oh my!).

This homemade face scrub is made with aloe, sugar and lavender oil. Aloe is a natural skin moisturizer and is used in a Ayurvedic medicine as a remedy for all kinds of skin problems (read more about aloe in skin care here). Lavender essential oil is very soothing to the skin and helps reduce redness and irritation. Sugar is a gentle exfoliant that helps remove dead skin cells without the use of microplastics found in some storebought scrubs.

I'm sure you will love this soothing homemade face scrub recipe! Just as with any face scrub (even the kind you buy at the store!), be sure to keep it away from your eyes and if any sign of irritation develops, discontinue use immediately.

Making DIY body scrubs like this yummy cinnamon sugar and coffee scrub are a great way to energize at the start of your day. Making this homemade sugar scrub means you can avoid sketchy ingredients that are often in commercially produced scrubs like artificial fragrance, parabens, phthalates, petroleum based ingredients and more.

The coconut sugar used in the scrub lends a toasty, caramelized scent while the coffee helps wake you up. Caffeine is known to be great for your skin as well and this coffee scrub is a great way to get it! The sugar and coffee work together to gently exfoliate your skin while the coconut oil leaves your skin feeling soft. Overall, this homemade body scrub will leave you feeling energized and your skin will feel pampered as you get ready to take on your day.

This sugar scrub makes a great gift as well - maybe even add an "I like you a latte" tag for a little punny humor.

How to make sugar scrub with peppermint essential oils
If you want to learn how to make sugar scrub, you're in the right place! This peppermint sugar scrub recipe combines vanilla and peppermint essential oils to get a yummy smelling scrub that you layer to get a pretty candy cane effect - perfect for gift giving!

I love giving healthy personal care products for quick and easy Christmas gifts. Using staples that you already have in your kitchen and some yummy essential oils, you can create a great peppermint sugar scrub that will exfoliate dead skin and smell delicious at the same time! One of the best parts about this project is that you do not have to be crafty to pull it off.

To make a delightful peppermint scrub, start with an organic peppermint oil and combine it with sugar and coconut oil to make an awesome sugar scrub. I love using mine to exfoliate my whole body in the shower or to scrub dirt off my hands after I have been in the garden.

Update: This recipe was originally created by using Rocky Mountain Oils' "Blend of Vanilla" and "candy cane" oils. Due to shortages in the worldwide vanilla crop, vanilla essential oil is in short supply and RMO is no longer carrying it. This recipe was updated in 2018 to reflect oils that are currently available on the market.

This post brought to you by Wayfair.

Do you diffuse essential oils in your office or home? I love having my diffuser going - especially at night in my bedroom and in my office while I'm working. After a while, though, it's easy for your counter or desktop to get cluttered with the little bottles of oil. This situation was the inspiration for my craft challenge from Wayfair.

Wayfair recently asked me if I wanted to participate in a Craft Swap Challenge (um, yes!). Each blogger who signed up was sent one of four inexpensive items from Wayfair and you craft it up and send it to a secret partner.

I was assigned Kristin of Modish and Main. I poked around on her site and in her social media feeds to get an idea of her style so I could make something she would love. I saw that she likes to use essential oils and I thought it would be fun to transform the Malden Driftwood Linear Picture Frame I was sent into a little essential oil stand to keep her desk or dresser neat and tidy when using a diffuser.

When I was pregnant with my second baby, I wanted to be sure to take great care of my skin. While your tendency to get stretch marks is determined in large part by your genetics, there are definitely things you can do to support your skin to help it adapt as your baby grows! When I was pregnant, I spent time researching oils that supported skin healing and stretching and came up with this concoction. I would apply it in the evenings, after showering - being sure to take my time to massage it into my skin with my fingertips. I did this so that my skin could absorb it while I was sleeping (a naturally healing time for your skin anyway!) and by morning my skin would just be soft and not at all oily.

In addition to using this oil, I was very good about drinking water and taking my prenatal vitamin so my skin was supported from both the inside and outside. While I did get stretch marks from my first baby, as far as I can tell I didn't get any new ones with my second pregnancy and my skin's texture is soft instead of dry or stressed looking.
