How to Plan the Perfect Playdate in the Park

Do you ever feel like your kids could use more outdoor time? It's easy to get stuck in a routine where indoor play becomes your norm. I had already been thinking I wanted to arrange a playground playdate with some of our friends and their kids to help get everyone outdoors when CLIF Kid emailed me. They want to encourage boys and girls to get more outside time. I love their products and I love this message so of course I said I would partner with them to bring you this post!

Perfect playdate location

The perfect playdate place doesn't need to be super fancy. Our back yard is small, so we asked our friends to join us at a park. We specifically picked a park with a playground (hello, unstructured, imagination-fueled play!) that also had a lot of shade so we could stay cool and avoid getting sun burnt.

Perfect playdate snacks

For our playdate, we brought a variety of snacks and some water. CLIF Kid makes nutritious snacks from organic ingredients that are specially-crafted for kids’ developing taste buds and active lives - and my kids LOVE them. They also have gluten-free snacks available, which was perfect to share with our gluten sensitive friends.

In addition to the CLIF Kid snacks, we also brought string cheese, bananas and water - which we set up in an ice chest to keep it cold.

Perfect playdate activites

For me, the best playdate activities are ones that parents don't need to orchestrate or be involved in beyond helping little brothers and sisters. For our playdate, we brought a bunch of bubblewands, bubble juice and sidewalk chalk - and then let the kids do their own thing. We set the chalk and bubbles out where the kids could get to them and then let them choose what to do - going back and forth between the playground and the activity station on the sidewalk.

Plan your own playdate!

When a playdate is this easy, there's no reason why you can't get outside and play more often! Next time the weather forecast looks favorable, give your friends a call and get your kids outside and moving.
