How to make sugar free, gluten free, keto cloud bread - they taste like scones!
If you loved bread before you started keto or went gluten free, going without can be a hard adjustment to make. What do you eat with your tea? Dessert? As a snack? 

This delicious cinnamon cloud bread is the answer to your bready keto cravings. I like to eat them as-is with a cup of tea or bulletproof coffee. 

If you need a fat and protein boost, smear it with some almond butter and maybe even add a couple sliced strawberries. YUM! 

The inspiration for this recipe came from the "english muffins" recipe on page 158 of Vanessa Spina's book Keto Essentials: Your Complete Guide to the Ketogenic Diet (get it on Amazon or Barnes & Noble). 

Her book has all kinds of really creative keto recipes (all of which are also gluten free!). If you're looking for a great keto cookbook, I highly recommend it.

This cloud bread recipe is sweet and spicy and perfect for dessert.

If you want a cloud bread that is more well suited for savory applications, leave out the xylitol, vanilla and cinnamon (but do whisk the egg yolks with the sour cream before adding them to the egg whites on step 5). 

Creative Green Living has an awesome recipe for plain cloud bread. It's perfect for sandwiches or savory applications. I love topping mine with cream cheese, lox and capers for breakfast or an easy lunch.

Unlike other cloud bread recipes, this cloud bread is made with sour cream instead of cream cheese. I find sour cream is easier to mix smoothly and you don't have to remember to set it out to soften!

Cloud bread is also called "oopsie bread" and this cinnamon oopsie bread will be a fun twist for those looking for flavored cloud bread or flavored oopsie bread recipes.

Best detox water recipes - strawberry infused detox water recipe

Whole 30 & Paleo coffee tip #1: Start with good coffee

So this might seem obvious - but the number of people drinking bad coffee in this country is astonishing so maybe it isn't. If you are buying cheap, poor quality coffee, what you end up with in your cup will not taste amazing. Period. There are no miracles in coffee. If they cut corners in production you can taste it.

If you've been buying cheap super market coffee like Maxwell House and Folgers, consider expanding your coffee horizons. Find a small, local roaster if you can as the attention they pay to the quality of their coffee is usually quite high (look at your local farmer's market or on Craig's List). No one available? My favorite coffees available from big stores include Starbucks' Caffe Verona Coffee which has rich cocoa tones as well as World Market Vanilla Bean Coffee.

This roasted red pepper soup is one of the finest soups that I have created in a while. There is a rich, warm, almost sweet flavor from the roasted peppers and carrots, that is nicely balanced by the drizzle of olive oil and sprinkle of salty parmesan.  It is delicious. 

This soup is gluten free and has an option to make it paleo, vegan AND Whole 30 compliant - this makes the soup perfect for just about everyone. So bring it to your potluck or as a side dish for family dinner and everyone will be able to enjoy it!

Last week, I wrote about how to easily make your own roasted red peppers, so if you are feeling ambitious, you can make your own roasted peppers to put in this soup.  If you are not up to that, just buy yourself a nice jar of roasted red peppers.  It might not be as satisfying as making your own, but they will work just fine.

If you have ever wondered how to make protein cookies, you have come to the right place! When PlantFusion got in touch with me to ask about partnering with them to show off their awesome plant-based proteins I was excited to try them in some non-traditional ways - like in a baked good! I've seen a lot of people online asking if you can use protein powder in baking and I'm happy to say the answer after some extensive testing is YES (for PlantFusion anyway - no promises about anyone else's protein).

I spent several days baking batch after batch of protein oatmeal cookies and getting feedback from my kids and husband and I think what I've come up with here is pretty awesome! They have a great  oatmeal cookie flavor and boast a whopping 11 grams of protein! These would make a great afternoon snack when you need something with sticking power. The world is split in to two kinds of people, those who like Brussels sprouts, and those who don’t!  I must say, I am truly in the like camp, and I think more people would join me if they cooked their sprouts this way!

I think most of us have eaten those over-cooked Brussels sprouts, boiled for too long and all of their colour lost. They just sit on the plate, all pale green and mushy. Well, it’s time to make Brussels sprouts the star of your thanksgiving and Christmas side dishes!

I’ve gone for some classic seasonal flavours to make the sprouts sing-maple syrup and bacon-so that they will compliment your main meal. They are pan fried before being cooked in the oven, so they keep their beautiful colours and remain firm. When pan frying the batches, be sure to add seasoning, as this will help give that lovely salty sweet finish.

Just a handful of ingredients and 45 minutes to make (includes prep AND bake time) these sprouts are easy peasy.  You can also make these the day before you want to serve them, just keep them covered in the fridge and slowly heat back up in a saucepan.

Do you love apple pie? I sure do. When our local farmers started bringing fresh apples to the farmer's market, my son asked if we could make an apple pie. It was 100 degrees outside, so uh, no. Sorry. BUT I did agree to see if I could make him an apple pie smoothie and I must say I am pretty proud of how this turned out!

A few days ago, I bought some gorgeous vine ripened tomatoes. They smelled fabulous, and looked beautiful, so I took them home and made some super flavorful lime and cilantro salsa!  I can't stop eating it!  Really, it is SO delicious! 

You'll love this fresh, salsa, too - especially if you've been growing tomatoes at home or picking them up at your local farmer's market. For a fun twist, try making this with different colored tomatoes.

Sometimes a side dish for dinner is beyond me.  The thought of throwing together a batch of biscuits or a decent salad sounds lousy, so smoothies have become a regular at dinner (and at breakfast and lunch).  

I often freeze fresh some fruit a few days in advance, and just throw in a little bit every time with a piece or two of fresh fruit.  It adds a nice sweet element to a meal while still providing lots of nutrients.

I was very strawberry adverse when I was a kid.  I think it was the little, crunchy seeds.  My mom used to tell me it was okay, because she didn't like strawberries as a kid either, and now they are her favorite fruit.  

Fast forward 15 years and my mom was right: I love them.  I am not sure they are my favorite fruit, but they are up there. Especially when you combine them with an almond shortbread and ice cream.  These are delicious!  They look super fancy when you serve them to guests and (huge bonus) they are gluten free!

Last summer, my family spent seven weeks in France.  While we were there, we ate a number of meals from farmer's markets that lined the rivers.  They had wonderful, fresh produce that we thoroughly enjoyed, but the most delicious thing we ate from the markets were the strawberries.  They were so ripe, juicy and definitely the best strawberries I have ever tasted.  

My parents came over for a visit while we were there, and my mom commented that she had never had a strawberry that was so red all the way through.  They were heaven on earth.  

Due to the way large growing operations grow, manage and pick strawberries, you probably won't find such fresh and luscious strawberries at your local large chain grocery store. Instead, head to your local farmer's market, farm or produce stand to find the ripest, juiciest berries this summer.

Regardless of where you shop for berries, here are my best tips for choosing the most delicious, juicy strawberries, and storing them so they stay fresh as long as possible.
